We’re all about analyzing our fears at work this week. Speaking of, we’ve been wondering about the gripping fear of losing your job, and how it impacts your life. You know, that sense you may be let go at any minute, because the culture of the company is rather “unforgiving”. Or the chest-tightening feeling you get when massive layoffs are announced at your organization. Or even the gradual and unsettling idea your job may be in jeopardy, whether through explicit or implicit warnings.
For many, it’s a crippling fear that turns otherwise productive individuals into anxiety-ridden employees. If the fear of losing your job is ruining your life (and even making you skip dessert), here are a few ways to kick the fear away:
Fear of losing our job and being in a bad position is something that paralyzes us into bad situations. Becoming financially stable and having you mental in check as well is important. These are things that are in the back of our mind but we should push to the front.
HI Zena! I absolutely agree, especially with the part where you mention financial stability. Losing a job could happen very easily and be outside of our control, and it’s important, especially for women, to ensure they are in a financial situation with enough savings to weather it. What do you think, should we have at least 6 months of savings or one year and up worth of savings in case of job loss?
