Happy Sunday! Hope everyone’s having a wonderful week-end, it’s beautiful on this side of the blogosphere and we’re enjoying the good weather. As I’m sipping on my second third cup of coffee (I know, I know, working on it!), I’m reading and re-reading the headlines and news of this week that made us smile, laugh, cry and frown and right out go “What ?!?!?!?!?!”:
- This week saw the passing on Wednesday of our own personal idol, Dr. Maya Angelou. We are giving homage to one of our most respected teachers! We are speaking for the multitude when saying that Dr. Angelou’s life inspired most of us, and that not only will she be sorely missed, but her life and words will never be forgotten. Loved this article from The Root on Maya Angelou’s words and most famous quotes. Inspiring!;
- We also loved this post from Essence’s Write or Die chick “Living the Maya Angelou Blueprint“;
- Right in time for the week-end, Black Enterprise gives us detox tips for the busy professional;
- Before clocking in on Monday morning, read this article from Inc. on the 15 things that successful people do on Mondays;
- For food-lovers like myself, Business Insider tells us about 14 foods you should eat to increase productivity;
- Loved loved this article from Entrepreneur on why we need to stop fixing women to act like men;
- You probably did not miss the gender debate flaring up on Twitter around #yesallwomen from gender diversity to wornen empowerment. And you’ll love this commentary from Leaders in Heels about the gender debate flaring up over women’s supposed lack of ambition;
- And for a little laughable throwback, check out Retronaut’s excerpt from a booklet intended to assist male bosses in supervising female employees (chuckles guaranteed);
- Last but not least, our own “The Corporate Sister” asks the question as to whether women need more realistic models at work.
Happy Sunday, and happy reading! Much love, peace and motivation!
