We’ve talked about using fear to advance your career. Remember the Grey’s Anatomy episode when Amelia and Stephanie were doing the superhero pose right before a major surgery to boost their confidence (and annihilate their fears)?

You know, that tight grip in your stomach as you prepare for a make-or-break presentation? Or the anxious feelings as you get ready to negotiate your next raise? How do you act in the face of these initial feelings and negative thoughts? Do you have tips and tricks to fight fear in the workplace, and instead use it as a fuel to be even better. For some, it may the superhero or Wonder Woman pose. For others, it may be repeating positive affirmations, or “faking it til’ you make it”. What are your hacks?

My $0.05: An amazing fellow corporate sister once confided in me her secret weapon against intimidation or fear at work was to imagine people in the room naked, in a kosher way that is. That didn’t work out for my vivid imagination and (way too fast) sense of humor.

I personally favor great preparation, positive affirmations, and mint gum. What are your hacks?
