Stop Doing List – cindygrasso.com

Happy Thursday!
I’m a to-do list girl. I like to start the day with my to-do’s ordered like ducks in a row, with pretty asterisks and color codes next to them. Don’t judge me! Yet, as effective (and compulsively entertaining as my endless lists may be), they’re not always as effective, for the simple reason that in the midst of all the things I have to do, are all the unspoken, unwritten and unrealized things I (along with the rest of us professional mortals) should STOP doing

Productivity experts have been talking for a while about the “stop doing” or “don’t do” list. So I tried it, and while at first it was significantly less pretty than my “duck in a row”, ordered to-do lists, it works…Actually writing down limiting attitudes and beliefs like procrastination, stress, complaining, lack of team trust or fear of recognition, is all but a comfortable process. At first…Yet, the sheer act of making such a list, sticking it where you can see it most of the time, and actually holding yourself accountable to it, makes a difference, and a good one at that…

What are some of the things you should stop doing? Do you tend to work alone rather than seek the help and contribution of others? Are you afraid to ask for feedback? Do you fail to pay attention to details? Ask yourself the difficult questions, and don’t be afraid to write down those things you should no longer be doing. Getting better at what you do is not just a matter of doing more of what works, but also doing less of what doesn’t…
