I came upon the term “work spouse” a few years back when I was still a novice in the corporate game. And did it make me smile at the time…
And along my corporate journey, I noticed more and more of these corporate “marriages”. As one of my favorite corporate big sisters puts it, “if I’m going to spend this much time at work, I better have me a work hubby who can bring me lunch!”
Although I’ve never had a work spouse through all my corporate years (or should I say I’ve never really found one), I would tend to agree that a platonic “work marriage” may just take away some of the professional strain many of us are under…as long as we keep it platonic of course?

I’m glad you brought this up as I was going to write a similar post – great minds think alike. I have had several work spouses and they are GREAT! They pick up where the hubby drops off during the day. They look out for you, make sure you are taken into consideration, help you, are another person to bounce ideas off of, a confidant, trustworthy and genuinely cares about your well being in the office environment. They are GREAT!
