Happy Friday, and TGIF!
In our coffee chat today, we were wondering if people prefer casual Fridays as opposed to non-casual Fridays. From talking to a few corporate sisters around, it seems that opinions are actually divided on the topic.
While some seem to think that casual Fridays are a welcome break from the conservative tone of the beginning of the week, others (a majority of which turn out to be in managerial positions) actually fear that casual Fridays may contribute to lowering the productivity and “serious” tone in the office.
What do you think?

I think casual Fridays are ok when you are working with an exempt professional team. As long as it is understood what the acceptable attire is, everyone should be able to take part and enjoy it. I personally do not dress any differently on Friday because I am in management but that is just my choice. Other managers do partake.
Hi Diatta! i have always had a bit of an ambivalent position when it comes to casual Fridays, probably because of my background in conservative public accounting. I do think that the way you dress is part of your professional “package”, and perception is an important part of the corporate world, even if self-perception. While I did indulge in casual Fridays earlier in my career, the more I advanced, the more I found that it was actually easier for me to have a consistent business approach to my dressing. So I can definitely see your point. Thanks for the great comment!
