Our fashion lunch pick today was this bright magenta jacket from the DVF line. And as much as we love it, it got us thinking about how comfortable we are in general with donning bright colors at the office.
Too pretentious? Not serious enough? Flat-out inappropriate for work?
Please sound off and let us know your thoughts.

Depends on where you work. I work at an ad agency…anything goes (pretty much). If you work at a law firm, you may want to tone things down, but you can rock loud fashion without bright colors. You can always find a way to shine in whatever you wear.
HI Julianna ! I absolutely agree with you. The trick is to know your office environment, and know how to rock your fashion and still be work appropriate. It’s been a dilemma for me for a long time, as I’ve worked in some pretty conservative accounting firms and institutions, where fashion was not always well perceived. As a young associate in love with fashion and addicted to color, I had to make a few mistakes, and quite a few adjustments before getting it (almost) right. Now I allow myself to rock my fashion but tamper it down with some more conservative pieces (every now and then, I go all out though!). I’d love to see what it’s like to work at an ad agency. When you say anything goes, is it really anything, and how can you distinguish between what is professionally acceptable and what is not?
